Hi sweeties &hearts hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of summer, had a pleasant Father's Day, and are all doing well!

Two things for my local friends:

1) Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in theatres THIS WEDNESDAY, meaning it's time to hit the theatres bbs. :) I've had one ok... is anyone else in?

Edit: Oh NOOO. Green Day's 21 Guns is on the soundtrack?! :( Ahh I love the Soundtrack (out tomorrow!) previews (ok yea, I'm huge on movie soundtracks in the first place). Has The Fray, Linkin Park (duhhh), Theory of a Deadman, a nice Hoobastank song, The Used...

2) I'm thinking Wonderland July 2nd (happy birthday Kian, you're gonna be able to legally drink lol), which btw is a Thursday, and I get a FIVE-DAY holiday that week (cuz we're slaving 45hrs/wk for 2 weeks straight to make up for it...). Yay for being part of a US-owned Canadian company. >.> I get a discount from work. Have one parental OK, now just need the hormonal other. ><; It should be fine though, so both parental OKs :D let me know~

I never dwell on political issues, but this one crossed the line and needs to be ranted about.

If you did not know, a nuclear reactor in Ontario shut down, and since it's one of the largest providers of the world's medical isotopes (almost 1/3 of the world's supply), a medical crisis is in place. (Read: Medical isotopes are key in helping detect and fight various types of cancer.)

Natural Resources Minister Lisa Raitt was caught on tape saying that the crisis is "sexy" (QUOTE: "But it's sexy. Radioactive leaks. Cancer."), and is hoping to use the situation to boost her career. Her lawyer and former Head of Communications attempted to cover up the issue in court. Too bad for them, the application was rejected.

Yet apparently, despite the offensiveness of her various comments in the 5-hour tape recording, Harper (for non-Canadians, he's our sad little Prime Minister) remains confident that she can "handle her duties." Sure, maybe she can do her job. Anyone can "do a job" (and without losing binders and confidential government documents like Raitt did). But I will never believe that someone who obviously takes such a major health concern as a joke can do her job based on the interests of the public, of a nation, and in this case, the specific interests of the medical community. Doubtful? Go re-read the third paragraph. Notice how there's no hint of concern for all the people dying without treatment. Oh no no, she thinks it's SEXY.

... So, we can say whatever we want in our private conversations, and, according to Teneycke, it would mean nothing? That it's excusable? So wait... that means all the surveillance and anti-terrorism measures (phone tapping and whatnot) that the USA does on suspected terrorists is pointless, right? Because, hey! That threat was made in a private conversation! Therefore it's excusable! 8D HM YEA THAT'S LOGICAL. *seriousnod* And "an unfortunate choice of wording"? Calling Code Geass "kinda nice" instead of "epic" would be "an unfortunate choice of wording." But "sexy"? Versus something more appropriate like, oh I don't know, "frightening?" "Worrisome?" "Critical?" I'm not the best thesaurus out there, but at least I'm hitting into the right ball-park. What dictionary/thesaurus is SHE using?

It's the things you say in private that reveal your true self. So yes, she should be held accountable. It is not excusable. Because to Raitt, cancer is sexy. Pain and suffering? Sexy. Death? Rawr. SO SEXY. Why don't you get diagnosed with cancer, Raitt, and then get back to me on how sexy it is.

Apparently, she's released an apology to Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq, who she basically called incompetent. But hmm... nothing to the public? Nothing to the cancer patients who are dying from this so-called "sexy" disease, or to the people who've lost loved ones to it?

Raitt: "You know what solves this problem? Money. And if it's just about money, we'll figure it out. It's not a moral issue."

I want this cold bitch fired, Harper. Don't be a pansy. I want her fired.

I'm an avid subscriber to crediting. This means that I respect and encourage everyone to do so, and I believe that it's not a hard concept to understand. I can't say that no-one has ever taken or used anything without credit during their life (especially with all the problems on the internet, it's always possible to do so without meaning to), but I believe it's important that when you -do- realize your mistake (especially when you claim something is your own when it is not), you own up to it, act accordingly, and refrain from doing so in the future.

It's not a pleasant feeling to have your work stolen. Many artists, of any sort (doesn't matter if it's fashion design, photography, traditional artwork, fanart, anything), deal with this problem constantly, and it's not something anyone is keen to deal with. Your creations are a symbol of your hard work. They're a part of your identity in a sense; it's like your interests, your clothing style, the way you talk, etc. It's a part of who you are. And having that taken by someone else, and claimed as their own? Nuh uh. Just imagine someone mimicking everything you do and love (oh yes, we all know at least one person like that). Not pleasant is it? Now try and transcribe that into the art world.

Call it my pet peeve if you will. I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to be urked about, and I would also appreciate if my friends, both on LJ, and in real life, would understand that this is a difference in opinions I cannot ignore.

Haven't had a layout change since November. This banner features a scan from Self Service magazine. &hearts Don't mind the possible sexual reference in the mag's name lol.
I'm starting to believe I have the tendency of unconsciously choosing unclean scans for my banners (mind you, I did have a hard time picking a new image, despite the numerous fashion scans in my possession). Like this one, which isn't actually as bad as the some of the others I've done. :| I spent quite some time cleaning up the grains this morning though I'll admit I sometimes enjoy it... the repetition work is kinda soothing. >.> Yes, I know, I'm a little quirky.

I just realized one of the artists I "watch" on DA, who draws beautiful copic-sketch-marker drawings, is actually a male. And a fashion student, atm.
*headdesk* Man. :( I feel kinda envious. I know I'd fail as a fashion student, but how amazing would it be to turn your ideas into real designs and be able to draw all these variations of poses just like that? If only I had a machine to scan my drawings into, and have the fabric pop out the other end, all tailored and finished.

On that note, I've been too lazy busy to actually sit down for hours and draw my latest idea. Now I've lost interest in it. Sigh. I'm so doomed from the start with this whole fashion business.

*points to dp* Just a taste for TRC fans of my new icon batch. :) my colours are becoming more saturated. >.> I don't know if that's good or not.

Besides the Robward being jealous of Taylor for New Moon filming, though that was more like ">.> are you serious?" than cool. I mean, come on... Jacob is SUPPOSED to be the highlight of New Moon. It's the POINT of New Moon. ><; Bah. Twilight drama. Seriously, I feel like I'm so over this fandom, purely after the movie stuff launched. One of the customers last week, who's daughter is a huge Twilight fangirl, went "o.o wtf" when I told her the release dates for New Moon and Eclipse. Glad I'm not the only one with that reaction...

I know my original plan idea-in-motion-process for us was road trip (on a weekend) to NY for their stops there or something, but my mom might not let me get my G this summer because of driving insurance prices or whatnot. >.> Sticking to my G2 means I can only take one person with me unless they put in that possible under19 driving law, and that wouldn't work out / would involve complications... but now there's something that opened up NEAR us. SO.

Toronto, anyone? And come on, it's Toronto, we're practically right next to it, so who wants to come with?????

From what I heard, Nickelback is being opened by Saving Abel and Hinder (I don't get why they paired those two up when they hate each other, but ok...) and The Fray's being opened by Jack's Mannequin.

If this doesn't work out, which I feel like it might not ._., the beach fiesta is still on. :D I'll find a way around the driving block if that happens... And yes I still plan to hunt for a sweet-ass beach up north when the good weather actually kicks in. Lack of motivation ATM.

Details of the Japan part of my trip, since some people have been asking. I won't be explaining any of the historic significances or anything of the sights I saw. I took about 2000 pictures in the 6 weeks I was in Asia, and I uploaded the best to a Photobucket folder (about 150). Of those, I'm only posting a selected number on this entry, for bandwidth sake. Except... I'm not saying "Vote for me."
Because I know I'm not the best for any of the categories I could fall in to. I'm not being humble or modest; it's true. But I do believe there are many iconmakers out there who don't receive the attention that they deserve. Some who are, perhaps, overshadowed by the other makers in their communities, or aren't as active as others. Who don't churn out as many icons as other makers, but still create unique, inspiring, and beautiful icons when they do.
So, I say "Vote for the iconmakers you believe deserve each category." People on your watch list perhaps. Even if they're a newcomer to the "graphics scene," even if they don't have many watchers, even if they don't post as often as you like. As long as you think they deserve to be nominated, and to have the chance in their respective category/categories, why not take the time to nominate them?
